Why I started 2USE
I spent years in Apple distribution, and more than 30 years in Dubai. In all that time I kept seeing the same thing at friends’ homes, as well as my own: a drawer full of phones, tablets and laptops that still worked, and that nobody used.
I started collecting them. The good ones went to schools and charities, and the rest were recycled properly: an electronic device contains many useful elements that specialized centers can extract and recycle back into the economy. And I kept asking one question: why does a working phone end up in a drawer?
The answer was twofold: value and trust. People don’t sell, because the offers feel unfair and they worry about their data. People don’t buy, because “Grade A” can hide a copy screen and a battery that lies about its health.
2USE is my answer to both value and trust. We sell original devices that have never been tampered with. And we show you everything you need to know about a device to make an educated decision, and we give you a 12-month warranty so nothing is left to chance. A phone in a drawer is a phone wasted. A circular economy only works when people take part on both sides: one person lets go of a phone they no longer need, and another chooses a good used phone over a new one. We make both sides easy, and we keep phones local. A phone traded in here is easier to trace than one imported from an auction abroad, and its value stays in the UAE.

Three things the used-phone market needs to fix
In 2026 Ghassan wrote a three-part series on what holds the second-hand market back in the region. Each part names who has to act, and what we do about it ourselves.
“Grade A” means something different in every shop. Big retailers can fix that by agreeing on one scale.

“Refurbished” is not a protected word. A repaired phone should say which parts were replaced, as clearly as its price.

“Grade A” describes the look,not the parts.
In the UAE a genuine iPhone Pro Max screen costs AED 1,499, and a copy can cost AED 50. Both can look flawless, and both phones can be sold as “Grade A refurbished”. We’re not against copy parts: they keep repairs affordable. We’re against hiding them. So our rule is simple: we never sell a repaired device.
